AtmoWorks proudly presents a brand new piece of work by renowned electronic music wizard Dean Richards of Disturbed Earth. Days Gone By is the story of the transformation and reworking of an album that Vir Unis had released over four years ago. This album is Henry Hud and was given to John’s (Vir Unis) son Henry on his first birthday, so this album is very special to us at AtmoWorks. Henry Hud, the album, was originally recorded on four track analog tape deck using guitar pedal delays and such, so the lo-fi and minimalist nature of the music was captured in a raw but pure form. Using this music as raw texture and footage to construct a parallel soundworld, Dean Richards builds upon the musical narrative that is Henry Hud and evolves it through the emotional resonance of time and the nostalgia of Days Gone By. This is a brilliant piece of work and we strongly recommend checking the previews out….
Following up on Drawn From the Well, which was the first collaboration between Vir Unis & Disturbed Earth, Entropic 1 is the first chapter in what is expected to be a novel sized body of work, a series of experiments in how music, or any art for that matter, evolves and de-evolves in a sort of sustained entropy before it reaches its final destination and becomes itself, a work of art. Fans of both of these artists will enjoy this experiment. Vir Unis uses clarinet, cymbals, rhodes piano, radios, tape machines, room noises, and amplifiers to create a holographic stereo field of found objects & musical instruments. Dean takes these textural works and loose array of hazy room recordings and molds them into an organized soundfield of shifting light, from bright to dark and back. This is exciting and interesting work for these musicians and students of sound. AtmoWorks is proud to announce it’s release….

by Kirill Platonkin (http://agniworld.wordpress.com/2011/04/29/disturbed-earth-hotel/)
The album “Hotel” by Disturbed Earth, released on AtmoWorks label, is a creation of Dean Richards, an ambient musician from Melbourne,Australia. This work is a significant one in his activity, as it describes one place in Florida, located somewhere close to the nature, which he called his hotel, and where he became Disturbed Earth. Really, nature is a great source of music inspiration, and in this drone ambient album, constructed by pedal harmonium and guitar sounds, additionally encrusted by found sounds, represents a great example of such natural influence. The starting point is “Outboard”, beginning with ringing drone, furnished with gentle helicopter-like sounds, unhurriedly moving to a serene, radiant island of ambience, located in the end of the track. “Shanty”, supposedly describing a far away hut, somewhere in the forest, precisely reveal this accommodation, filled with tinkling of the wind chimes, some subtly swooshing sounds, reminding of a draught in a room with opened windows, and some other surrounding hummings. “Greasy” appears to be a smooth, blurred and peaceful ambience, though not lacking some light coating of sadness; again, on the background you can hear some field recordings, saturating the natural flow of these fragrant and pleasant sonic waves. The titling track “Hotel” is a great solution of the natural sounds, and the sounds, produced by the musician; in this case, the solution is neutral – it is comfortable and warm, as if it is the intrauterine liquid inside of a mother’s abdomen, where a child is emerging and preparing to see the light of our world. “Jalousie” is the longest track in the album, and the most saturated with the mentioned found sounds, and the music here is appearing and vanishing, like sea tides; it is an amicable succession of natural and artificial energies, interlacing into a tranquil and enlightening symphony. So, pay a visit to Disturbed Earth’s “Hotel”.

Welcome to new AtmoWorks artist Rounder! We’re pleased to present his first album, “Prelude”.
Here’s what Rounder has to say about his new release, “Prelude”:
“For years I’ve been fascinated with the tale of man’s journey through time, wondering where things we do come from, whether it be from experience or from some collective memory spanning our time on this planet. Combining this with an interest in the concept of the habitation of Mars and a strong desire to understand ‘where things went wrong, in order to bring us to where we are today’, I decided to explore the subject with an album, “Prelude”.
“Prelude” starts simply, as the opening eyes of a new species starts out to explore its many vast frontiers, then travels quickly through the creation of civilization, primeval conquests, lust and war, and eventually lands the listener in the world of ‘The Now’. As the album is divided into three movements, movement one being the beginning, movement two is a representation of the industrial and technological age, where capitalism and globalization are prioritized over humanity, which inevitably succumbs to movement three, our last hope: leaving Earth for Mars. In this movement the listener is invited to step foot onto the vehicle which is to take the remainder of us all to Mars, the beginnings of civilization there, having learned the lessons of our past on Earth, and finally, a cohesive Utopia enjoyed by all.
The entire process of making this album took well over a year, and with that came many questions with answers that were unrevealed until the finality of this album’s completion. Without the unequaled skills of MjDawn, ‘Prelude’ and the images and messages that it attempts to convey, as well as the overall sound of the album, would never have seen the light of day. I give many special thanks to all of the help and support which MjDawn provided to ‘Prelude’ and myself as an artist. In listening to “Prelude” one can only hope that a strong sense of ‘getting back to our roots’ is conveyed, although, in all honesty, the most joyous part of the album is the imagery that it conjures in each listener’s mind. I hope all will enjoy. -Rounder”
Prelude is a solid first effort we know you’ll enjoy. Stay tuned for more to come from Rounder in the future! Please click the short previews here in the store for some samples….
